Dizzy’s new single “Joshua” is an intimately broken-hearted croon. The Ontario dream-pop four-piece makes music to listen to while lying on your bed, arms dangling off the sides, eyes glued to the ceiling.

Much like their previous release, “Pretty Thing,” “Joshua” glows with singer Katie Munshaw’s vulnerability. The weight of her words creates gaps of silence in the song that you can easily crawl into. There’s room to inhabit her mindset, her heartache. Delicate snaps drive the piece forward with the guitar’s plucking groove. And the melody holds your hand when lyrics like “Joshua’s a gemini/ He broke my heart/ Wish I was too preoccupied to fall apart” make you woozy.

Munshaw divulges the track’s calloused, cathartic energy:

This song is a goodbye to someone who left my life unexpectedly. There’s a constant buzzing in your entire body after a relationship ends without closure. At first it chatters through to your teeth and bones, but eventually it dwindles down to a soft humming in a secret hiding spot in your heart. Coping. This song is “Goodbye, and thank you. I hope you’re well. This is what’s happened since you disappeared on me.”
