Paul McCartney Announces New Album Out This Fall
Paul McCartney has been teasing a new album on social media for the past couple weeks, with some fans believing a surprise drop was imminent. Instead, the former Beatle played a surprise show at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Pub, where he debuted a new song called “Come On To Me.” (This was the same day McCartney apparently shot a Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden.) Today we get official word that one is on the way, and he’ll be promoting it with a double A-side single this Wednesday.
Although Macca hasn’t announced the album title yet, his social posts yesterday hinted at the title Egypt Station. We do know the songs he’s dropping Wednesday will be “I Don’t Know” and the aforementioned “Come On To Me.” A press release describes “I Don’t Know” as “a plaintive, soul-soothing ballad as only Paul can deliver” and “Come On To Me” as “a raucous stomper that fans that first spark of chemistry into a rocking blaze.” Actually, here’s some live footage of the latter nicked from that Liverpool club gig:
Are you raucously stomping yet? McCartney’s last full-length collection was 2013’s New, though since then he dropped the Pure McCartney compilation in 2016, around the time I penned this deeply sentimental concert review. After wallowing in nostalgia with me, check out the #EgyptStation teaser below.
