Today, TMZ shared a clip of Cardi B acting in a comedy sketch called “The Real Housewives of the Civil Rights Movement” from Rip Michaels’ upcoming series Off the Rip. In it, Cardi plays Martin Luther King Jr.’s late wife Coretta Scott King. It’s worth noting that today is the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

The already-dicey bit bombs when one of the “housewives” refers to Dr. King as a “hoe.” Dr. King’s son Martin Luther King III and daughter Bernice King, responded, calling the video “repulsive.” Martin Luther King III told TMZ that the sketch is “a distraction” and “beyond offensive” in today’s political climate.

“Young people look up to these artists,” Martin Luther King III said. He then urged viewers to “participate in the electoral process.” Bernice King thanked Cardi via tweet for “reaching out and apologizing.” The tweet continues, “I look forward to talking with you soon.” See the responses below and watch the controversial sketch over at TMZ.
