Last month, the Canadian comedian and YouTuber Lilly Singh debuted her new talk show A Little Late With Lilly Singh. The new show is NBC’s replacement for the finally-cancelled Last Call With Carson Daly, and it makes Singh the first woman of color and the first openly queer person to host a talk show on American network TV. Good for her! We at Stereogum haven’t posted any clips from Singh’s show yet for the simple reason that she doesn’t generally have musical guests. (She had 5 Seconds Of Summer play a song on one episode, but that’s been it. Sorry we didn’t post that one.) But last night, Singh’s guests included the very-busy-right-now Tegan And Sara.

Tegan And Sara just published their memoir High School, and they also just released Hey, I’m Just Like You, an album of newly recorded versions of the songs that they wrote when they were in high school. And they’re on tour right now. That’s a lot to talk about!

On the show, Tegan and Sara discussed their decision to ban cell phones from their live shows, telling a story about a moment when they went to go see Pink’s arena show and caught themselves phone-filming her rather than staying in the moment. And they also talked about anecdotes from the book, including teenage experiences with LSD. There’s also a web-exclusive bit about Tegan forgetting to buy a birthday present for Sara — even though they’re twins who have the same birthday.

The show seems awfully pleasant. Singh had Tegan and Sara out at the same time as her other guest, the actress Alexandra Shipp. (She’s Storm in the recent X-Men movies.) And they all got along swimmingly. It’s good late-night TV! Watch the interview below.
