J. Lo Discusses The “Born In The U.S.A.” Part Of Super Bowl Halftime And Springsteen’s Response
Jennifer Lopez co-headlined this year’s Super Bowl halftime show with Shakira last Sunday. During the performance, J. Lo’s daughter Emme Maribel Muñiz came out to sing “Let’s Get Loud” and interpolated a few lines of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.” And last night, J. Lo was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she broke down her Super Bowl performance and discussed the “Born In The U.S.A.” moment.
In the interview, Lopez explained that she asked Springsteen for permission beforehand, and that he watched the halftime show and enjoyed it. “He called after the Super Bowl and he was like, ‘You girls can really sing and dance!'” she said. “He and his wife Patti [Scialfi] loved hearing the song.” Watch her interview with Jimmy Fallon below. (Jimmy Fallon also breaks out his Bruce impression, if you’re into that.)
