The massively popular London rapper Stormzy is coming off of a truly triumphant year — a rapturously received headlining performance at Glastonbury, a hit album, a massively entertaining feud with grime godfather Wiley. Next month, Stormzy was planning to extend that winning streak, playing a series of shows in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, China, and South Korea. But now, because of concerns relating to the spread of coronavirus, Stormzy is postponing all of those shows.

Stormzy isn’t the first Western musician to cancel an Asian tour in recent weeks; the Boston Symphony Orchestra did the same thing last week. He probably won’t be the last, either. The outbreak of this new respiratory illness has already killed more than 1,000 people, and officials in China’s Hubei Province, the original site of the outbreak, just reported 15,000 new cases. This shit is no joke.

On Instagram, Stormzy writes, “Due to the ongoing health and travel concerns surrounding the Coronavirus, I’m regrettably having to reschedule this leg of the Tour.” He hasn’t yet rescheduled the dates, but he has promised that he’ll return.
