Glastonbury 2020 Still On For Now, Kendrick Lamar To Headline Friday
The behemoth English music festival Glastonbury is set to celebrate its 50th annual installment this June. Although COVID-19 containment efforts have resulted in the cancellation or postponement of many festivals and concerts, including every Live Nation show in America through April, Glasto is holding fast for now in hopes that circumstances will allow the show to go on. The festival just shared its initial lineup, in which Kendrick Lamar joins previously announced headliners Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Diana Ross. On Instagram, organizer Emily Eavis writes, “No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!”
A sampling of the other names on the initial Glasto lineup includes Angel Olsen, the Avalanches, Big Thief, Brittany Howard, Burna Boy, Camila Cabello, Caribou, Cate Le Bon, Charli XCX, Clairo, Crowded House, Danny Brown, Dizzee Rascal, Dua Lipa, FKA twigs, Fontaines D.C., Haim, Happy Mondays, Herbie Hancock, JARV IS…, the Jesus And Mary Chain, Kacey Musgraves, Kelis, Lana Del Rey, Laura Marling, Phoebe Bridgers, Primal Scream, Robyn, Sinead O’Connor, Soccer Mommy, the Staves, Supergrass, Thom Yorke, Thundercat, and TLC. The full initial lineup is available below.
Here’s the full statement from Eavis:
So, after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions, here is the first list of musical acts for Glastonbury 2020.
As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so. No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!
As always this is just a taste of what is to come, we plan to announce many more artists and attractions, area by area, over the coming weeks leading up to the full line-up in May.
In the meantime we post this with much love to all.
