Dogleg’s “Wartortle” Video Is A Clerks Homage
Video games aren’t the only kind of pop culture that Dogleg can reference! The Michigan punk band’s new black-and-white music video for “Wartortle,” a track off of their great new album Melee, is an elaborate riff on Kevin Smith’s beloved 1994 movie Clerks. Dante, played by frontman Alex Stoitsiadis, is called in to the convenience store where he works on his day off. Hijinks, obviously, ensue.
The “Wartortle” video was directed by Austin Vansen, who previously helmed Dogleg’s “Fox” and “Kawasaki Backflip” videos and plays the Silent Bob role in this one, and co-directed by the band’s own Chase Macinski. It was filmed mere hours before the governor of Michigan declared a statewide shelter-in-place lockdown. Watch below.
Melee is out now on Triple Crown.
