Jelani Aryeh – “Sweater Club”
Earlier this year, Jelani Aryeh performed at one of the pizza parties we’ve been doing with The Wild Honey Pie. Today, the San Diego musician is announcing his sophomore album The Sweater Club, the follow-up to 2021’s debut I’ve Got Some Living To Do. And he’s sharing its title track, which he says is “about imposter syndrome.”
“It’s about feeling disconnected from my body, taking a backseat and watching life happen to me,” Aryeh continued. “The instrumental sounds like the city moving 1000 miles an hour, pulling me along without a clue where it’s taking me. It’s how I felt most days while living alone in L.A. In trying to be open and vulnerable, I failed to set boundaries and ended up feeling like a passenger on other’s journeys. I had a hard time parsing out which friendships were genuine and ended up going to the extreme end of self-isolation. As dark as it is, there’s still life – this song may be my favorite off the album too!”

The Sweater Club is due out later this year.
