Wow, mine is pretty close to yours. Only the first three differ:
1) For You
2) Burgundy
3) Stereotypes
4) Head is the Future
5) The World To Me
6) I [single version]
7) I Can Explain
8) Levitate
9) Blue Faces
Man, I just realised it's impossible to me to read "Good grief" without reciting automatically: Good-grief-i-been-reaping-what-i-sowed-nigga-i-aint-been-outside-in-a-minute-i-been-living-what-i-wrote.
I did something different: to include the single version of "I" in untitled unmastered. For me, it works right before "untitled 6". Another thing to do would be to give proper names to the other tracks.
He shaped the sound of modern pop for decades to come. And the marvellous B-Side medley of Abbey Road is as much as his as the Fab Four. Titan, indeed.
I absolutely HATE when Stereogum tries to impose its morals on readers. Why the fuck should you have a moral agenda? Do you think your readers really need some schooling on the subject? Or that we need to masturbate collectively on the idea of our moral superiority? I mean take a look at this title (caps mine):
CeeLo Thinks WE're Gonna Let HIM Use International Women’s Day To Market His New Single
We versus Him. This is obnoxious.
And he always answered to them, either with politeness or a great sense of humour. He was the greatest and Blackstar one of his biggest artistic achievements.
See? It's exactly that kind of heartfelt reasoning that made Kanye and a generation of folks that grew up loving Cosby to want to immediately defend him. Live, suffer and learn.
My dear friends, whose comments are one of the most precious joys of my everyday life, I want to tell you one thing : I have become such a huge fan of The Life of Pablo. This may change with time, but, right now, it's not only my favourite album of recent years, but my favourite of Kanye West.
A formidable record that marked me deeply. It was also the record that introduced me to the most revolutionary music video director of the list decade: Andreas Nilsson.
The talent of Kendrick is so huge that it contaminated this diss track. I already knew that everything he touches turns to gold, wasn't aware that what touch shim could also turn into gold.
No, it's not. Most Barroque composers were Catholic. And music was a transcendent expression of faith. And dont Get me started about Gregorian chants.
Point is: saying that Catholicism isnt about transcendance through music is simply wrong.
Couldn't care less about that. Right now I'm having the time of my life listening to The Life of Pablo. Gets better with every spin, what a fabulous record. I even find myself enjoying tremendously Facts, go figure.
That review is such an insightful and beautifully written piece. I can really relate to the proclaimed joy one feels while listening to the record and the moving contradictions of its unfiltered humanity. It also reminded me why I love P4k so much: because it features the writting of talented music fans. This is something that all the Conde Nastés of the world will have a tremendous difficulty at destroying.
I think the long and exausting roll out to this record will be a case study in the years to come. Social media has penetrared in so many layers of music making but somehow this one (song selection and sequencing) has managed to be something decides behind close doors. I do not think that this process in Pablo was that different than the on from other records of other records - the only difference is that it was public and social mediated.
Of course it is. I'm not defending the guy, just saying that he will only be guilty after proven in a court of law. There is nothing terrible in it either because what I meant was to dismantle Kanye's claim by saying "yeah, right, he 's not guilty only because he will not be until a trial condemns him".
