This year all my love goes to Vampire Weekend who has made an absolutely perfect record that makes me think, dance, smile and cry like a little baby.
Ok. It's been six months since my first comment on this thread and right now (obviously) I absolutely adore Ghost on Ghost. Funny how it took me so long to really enjoy it. Somehow it sounded very dated to my ears.
Where's the Best Music Video of the Week feature?
Truly great. A latin Streethawk, sheer perfection.
I love it - this a beautiful hommage to Serge Gainsbourga and Jane Birkin videos for Melody Nelson.
As fresh as Dylan in 1966.
I'm a Paralytic Stalks sucker myself and it would be #2 on my list. Shame the list does not include their Eps and B-Side & Rarities compilations: some of their best songs can be found in these.
Alien Days didn't disappoint me at all and it is, in fact, one of my favorite and most played records of this year. I mean: I'm a big fan of Syd Barrett and Kevin Ayers, so this fresh take on prog psychdelia is really right down my alley.
"It’s a bit facile to call Reichstadt a master of combining pop and indie sensibilities, partly because it’s hard to say what those two words even mean anymore and partly because the things he does are way subtler than that. What Reichstadt does is he helps artists find a sharp, clear, eminently pleasant sound that still makes plenty of room for their own quirks and peculiarities to shine though, a place for hooks and personality to exist without one ever detracting from the other." This is utter bullshit.
And Simone, man. Which is Where Angels Play backwards. Gotta love the Stone Roses.
Does anybody else feel that Hissing Lawns should be number one? What an incredible record.
No video projections here: just glorious and untamed chroma-keys.
Man, this video ads keep starting out of the blue and it's REALLY annoying. STOP THAT.
Same here. And I've just bought the 2 EPs through her label website. This thing rocks.
This really freaked me out. I don't think anyone's supposed to listen to His voice with so much intimate detail and crystal clarity.
Downward Spiral and The Fragile on the top spots seems indeed pretty indisputable to me.
That is absolutely wonderful. And the Brian May guitar is a paramount detail for an mind-blowing performance.
I mean no disrespect and I've been enjoying this record a lot, but shouldn't all the world be wearing by now white gloves and dance to Janelle Monae's Electric Lady? What an amazing album, dude.
Dylan track was the best one of the week for me.
I agree with most of the list, but Get Happy is for me Costello's masterpiece (followed closely by This Year's Model).
Oh yes! What a terrific record! It's still one of my favourite listens during Summer.
His crooner voice comes to full fruition on this track. Bob's work archive seems bottomless.
Allow to explain it to you: the guy who wrote this article considered that there were, at least, 10 better songs than the two you refer.
What about those useless things that produce the air that I am breathin'?
Each premier is a dernière.
"The fact that it’s virtually impossible to imagine a reader of this website who isn’t aware of the show...". That's virtual insanity, my friend.
The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle - am I really the only one to think it's one of the greatest rock'n'roll albums of all time?
Ouch. That was painful to read.

How come nobody has yet mention the In Your Mind (1977's Bryan Ferry) homage? Colors, glasses, pose and even the music!
Beautifully written but I am surprised you didn't mention how the title and the artwork are both a rather obvious homage to Bruce Springsteen first record: Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J..
I would even consider Roots on that list.
Word. I'm grateful too, don't get me wrong. Who knows one day I feel the urge to listen to their music again.
No Curtis fucking Mayfield?!?
Man: am I the only one who used to absolutely LOVE Sigur Ros and nowadays can't even physically bring himself to listen to their music? It never happened to me with any other band: even my 12 year old passion for Queen still endures as a guilty pleasure. But these guys? No way. Anyhow, when I loved them, Agaetis Byrjun was obviously pure perfection.
