As I lay me down to sleep
I hear her speak to me
Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, cause I can see it
So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it
I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel
And look at all that he gave you
You asked for one and you got two
You know I never left you
Cause every road that leads to heaven's right aside you
So I can say
Hello my only one
Just like the morning sun
You keep on rising till the sky knows your name
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
No you're not perfect but you're not your mistakes
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Oh the good outweighs the bad even on your worst day
Remember how I'd say, hey, hey, one day
You'll be the man you always knew you could be
And if you knew how proud I was
You'd never shed a tear, have a fear
No you wouldn't do that
And though I didn't pick the day to turn the page
I know it's not the end every time I see her face
And I hear you say
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
You got the world cause you got the love in your hands
And you're still my chosen one
So can you understand
One day you'll understand
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori
I just want you to do me a favor
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Goes and reads what Adele has said about her collaboration with Damon Albarn. Yawns.
Anyways, me loves Damon Albarn (his solo album is still underrated as hell). I am sure him and Kanye could do a killer album together. Maybe in another life.
Kanye has become such an easy target. I know it's partially his fault, but "we don't care about other n*s, we're the mother n*gas!".
Since the beginning of this amazing 5 week roll-out that it has been very easy for me to enjoy this whole Wyoming project. I spent the afternoon listening to the full five albums and there is an arc throughout the whole thing: starts strong, plunges deep, rises high, makes a fascinating classic left turn and finishes sensually. What a journey.
Absolutely stellar.
The first time I saw the artwork it reminded me the cover of one of my favourite albums of all time: Terry Callier’s What’s colour is love? (1972). Soul jazz meets R&B grooves beautifully sang by Teyana. Sexy AF. Can’t stop playing it. Kanye is the man.
"West, out of spite or pique or bravado, wanted to show that he could make his own, that he could do it with the guy who had so memorably feuded with Jay. "
Isn't this pure speculation (or wishful thinking)? Couldn't it be that he wanted to produce a full album for one of his idols?
Cokefest, my man. I am not surprised by the lukewarm reception of Nasir, since both Kanye and Nas have been on the news for the bad reasons. It's a shame though, because I really love the album. Music is tight and the lyrical content is, to my ears, hilarious. One to go.
This is a great, fun and very entertaining album. Bey definitely forces Hov to step his game. I am not a big fan of trap music but Beyoncé is to my ears the best trap rapper I have heard in my life. Beyoncé can not be overated. This is the modern, black equivalent of New Morning. Sarah can’t sing though. I am loving this summer.
And Kanye is singing his ass off. I mean, listen to "everything". He's miles ahead of 808 Heartbreak. Nasir is hip hop with a smoking: elegant and sober. I love Nas voice and flow on this. What a treat.
After 24 hours of this, Nasir has become my favourite Wyoming album. Good Lord, this has happened to me with every damned record. I don't know what to think. I don't even remember how my life was before these four records.
Yesterday I listen to it on a rip from SoundCloud with a different order, and it’s amazing how the new line-up changes completely the flow of the record. Loving this new order much more.
This one definitely makes a pair with Daytona (as Ye and KSG make another one). Classic sounding hip hop albums with two legends rapping vs. experimental and raw collections of troubled minds. All four are great and all of them deliver. I am more in love with the Y/KSG combo but D/N feel like getting in touch again with some dear beloved friends. Take a bow, Kanye.
