For those keeping score, that's Glass Ghost's Mike Johnson on drums, substituting for Brian McOmber, and Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner filling out Angel's space.
Also please remember that the Monthly Mixes are culled from the month's free MP3s (and not streams), which disqualifies lots of songs we post (including, in the last week, Savages, King Tuff, No Joy, and A Place To Bury Strangers).
That Al Doyle "was there" for each of James Murphy's substantial LCD-related needs and still has managed to provide loyalty, dedication, and dogged onstage goofball charisma for Hot Chip all of these years deserves recognition and propers. Salute.
Nice dispatch, Michael_. Carrie Brownstein spoke to much the same experience, albeit in <140 characters.

It’s on hiatus until I work out the kinks in this bhangra/Rachmaninoff/4AD playlist. (Seriously I haven’t been publicizing Girl/Boy Songs lately and also not doing them regularly, but if there’s an egg-noggy edition in store I will email you! Hi Nate!)
Ah, man. It's true. I spent at least 2 minutes thinking about where they'd put the gravity harp and none looking at the year. Which is a shame -- each time I've seen Björk do something in Housing Works it's been a thrill. Maybe there's hope for a Tesla coil near the used books racks yet.
Don't sell yourself short, surlyduck, you understood -- "Hot Chip in a costume" was essentially the joke in the first place. The Deadmau5 part is less of a joke and has more symbolic weight now that I've seen the video, though, after hearing Orlando talk about his take on dance music and his populist, anti-intellectual approach to genre distinctions. The mainstream is sort of exactly what he's targeting with that philosophy.
I missed that Cameo set in favor of some horrible afterparty near the New Museum, and I'm bummed about that. But I've seen it live, and it is good.
Hey Thor! I am not sure what band you are in, but given how many bands played Amsterdam last week, statistically speaking it's highly unlikely you are in the band I am talking about! But if you are, I'm sorry to say there's not much a better soundsystem or constructive criticism can do. Don't worry. I'm sure it wasn't you and your band is great.
Thanks re: Megas. That dude can make a memory from across Europe, which is the definition of talent.
The moment you realize that, at some point, everyone at this protest would get to sing "We know who our enemies are" in unison is a good one. Followed closely by all the other ones.
