My sister teaches middle school in Burbank, and I was there often. The Burbank I saw was the Burbank I described. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But the music so free and the bars so hard, so you can't really complain.
Cant take credit for that. Gabriela coined that one.
The best verse that exists on this page through allusion or irl belongs to Black Thought.
Never said it was Petty. Mudcrutch is his project though.
As Frank Ocean once said: "Bro, easy on the ounce, that's a lot for a day, but just enough for a week"
No one went for the "Thanks A Lot" angle huh? Too easy I guess.
Yo, Doris. He your type?
You ain't ever lied my one-L friend.
For local TV news it's as sly as it gets.
the fat boy swag is strong on this one
Chance said he was on the Family Matters Tour
I would, but my other cheek won't turn for some reason.
I need both SZA and Isaiah Rashad yesterday. But I'd be hot if my debut was a surprise though.
My bad! Moving a little too quickly. Thanks for catching.
Agreed. I think he feels he's proven himself as a lyricist and can take the foot off the gas a bit so you can see him as he cruises.
Exactly. I felt for the man, but I don't pity him in the slightest. He's good. His shady cousin got some bars in two songs, I think he's not suffering too bad on the problem front.
You're right, typo, my mistake. I need everything to be perfect for Dilla Dawg. Thanks for the correction.
Honestly, Comeback Season had me thinking lyrics were back.
SWISH WAVES will indeed premiere in tandem with a fashion show.
I could see how you'd want to attribute it to a "neo-minstrel thing" critically, but Young Thug represents a part of black culture that is rarely seen or discussed. A couple of the most ruthless guys on my block growing up were gay. Thugger is a dramatization of people that actually exist. I'm not sure if critics know that, but he goes a long way as an example of members of the gay black community whose existence is rarely acknowledged. How well he represents them is up for debate, but at least people know they exist. That's why Omar from The Wire was such a subversive character on TV. Rap can be all-encompassing, it doesn't have to be one or the other. I think having a more complete variety of characterizations is better than presenting any one view of "the black experience."
Thanks for the correction, my mistake.
Thanks for the correction.
Thanks, Saul. I appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you noticed that little jab too.
