I realise this is apparently my day of hot takes, but that Childish Gambino album is way better than 4:44, even if we don't count Redbone (which I'm willing to bet is a future classic). Both are far from AOTY, but I'm not sure why you're more critical of Awaken's nomination
Have you not heard the Glassjaw record yet, or have you... y'know, heard it?
That's pretty much all I plan on listening to this weekend. I hope it continues the direction from Our Color Green and Coloring Book because both of these EPs were excellent. Still can't believe it's finally happening
I'm just happy that CDs mean there will be a.... way.... to acquire good quality version of those songs.
Hopefully the release contains the Thugga version of Slide on Me
Yup!! Washed Out Emo posted pictures of the record they got (they actually got a set of 7-inch singles with all of the record's songs on it) and then streamed the whole thing, you can find a shitty rip somewhere on reddit (which I haven't heard, but I caught some of the livestream). Their website was updated as well with a teaser video. It's actually happening!!
Also: completely irrelevant but I assume whoever will read this article will care, Glassjaw have a new album coming out in like two weeks (hopefully)!! They actually mailed copies to several blogs and are throwing a listening party this weekend, I'm so fucking excited
We're Down Til We're Underground is so fucking good and I still go back to the Some Girls album every once in a while. What I'm saying is I fucking love Eisold in his frantic hardcore vocalist mode an would love a new album!!
I love all of those artists you named a whole lot, but this sounds like a disaster. All of the Frank Ocean hypebeast fans are going to queue in front of the stage all day and be in their phone instead of listening to whatever's on stage. The Japandroids moshers will have the most fun but might not get along well with the St. Vincent crowd. The only ones who are really going to have a good time are the people who go for Vince who will probably be high on MDMA and open to anything
This is honestly awesome. I didn't really connect with any of their 2017 releases like I did with Nonagon or Mind Fuzz, but I still think that's an extremely badass move, and already ordered a pressing from one of the indie labels who took on the task on printing this album on vinyl.
Hands down coolest band in the world right now.
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking about when I read this. I feel like it's just a matter of days before all the third-wave emo stuff starts floating. That was pretty much the first big genre (I think) that was based entirely on MySpace and on direct interaction between artists and audience. I assume a lot of this type of shit went on during all those years
Oh no, that's awful. FNM were and still are a monumental band, and a crucial part of my musical upbringing, and it would never have happened without Chuck. RIP
I just heard Seeing Sounds for the first time a few days ago and I loved it, was pleasantly surprised because I remembered Nothing was pretty boring. So I'm down with this coming out soon with all those tasty features
He's been showing this video, or at least some of it, in his (beautiful) live set for a while (I remember seeing it in Primavera this year). Great track!! Hope the new album is near
Yeah yeah I get that you don't like Weezer but this band changed my life and those first two albums are as important (to me and many others) as anything Pixies has ever done. So let us Weez heads at least have this
Saw Pixies 3 years ago and it was incredible. About 35 songs, almost all of them pre-Indie Cindy, blasting through them one after the other. I had a lot of fun
why the fuck isn't Rih on the Spotify version though? song still goes but I was mostly listening to hear her rap (which I'm listening to on Youtube now and it is good)
Pork and Beans is great and I'm alright with Beverly Hills (I'll take it over Island in the Sun almost every day). What's sad is that this list doesn't even include their actual worst offenders - Heart Songs, In The Mall, fucking I'm Your Daddy, Put Me Back Together. But mostly, both lists this week pretend that Death to False Metal never happened, which is mostly for the best, but when talking about worst Weezer songs we can't forget that "I'm a Robot" happened
