I think it would've been a lot more interesting if instead of bailing from the made up soundcheck appointment Manson had shown up and just forced Bieber to actually perform The Beuatiful People.
Will check it out!!
I just got back from a week in Italy and before heading there tried to look for some good contemporary Italian indie and similar stuff, but mostly to no avail. If you have any other recs I would love to hear those!! (And if you're not Italian at all then sorry for bothering)
Same here. I think I had this WWE PS2 game in like 2004 which had almost only songs by Powerman 5000 on the soundtrack, which is pretty weird now. I used to love these songs a lot.
I still do. It's still really good. Up In Hudson is one of the best DP songs and imo one of the year's best tracks as well. Death Spiral is a truly mesmerising song as well. It's pretty great front to back actually.
I'm still wondering what suddenly happened with the backlash, as this album was really well received when it was out. Honestly trying to figure out how much of it had to do with taking sides.
Late Registration is perfect and might be his best (although it's a pretty close call with MBDTF). Can't think of a single filler track on it, if we count out the skits
I haven't listened to pretty much any other Foo Fighters album from this decade or the one before it, but Wasting Light was actually pretty solid. White Limo is still a fucking great track
Sorry but there's absolutely zero chance anything is going to dethrone "New York I Love You But You're Brining Me Down". That song is a fucking punch to the heart and I've barely even been in NYC.
I just got to Rome today! Going to spend a few days here and then Florence for a couple days. Already listening to Ti Amo on repeat (also got the gf hooked on "Rome" from Wolgang Amadeus Phoenix). Also I just came back from eating a really fucking good gelato so I'm happy as hell at the moment. Have a fun weekend full of LCD Soundsystem y'all
American Dream is really way too fucking good, as in "better than it has any right to be". The singles are still the week point but they're all massively growing on me. I think this might be James' 2nd best album. Absolutely love having it in the world rn
Mosquito Song is definitely the closer. It's listed on the cover (even if as a "hidden track"), it ties up the album greatly, and above all, is one of their best songs
I also have to shout out the extremely strong B-Sides that Josh chose to leave off the records - specifically The Bronze, Born to Hula, The Fun Machine and of course Era Vulgaris with Trent's incredible vocals (much superior to Kalopsia IMO)
This list is great yet almost all wrong, which says a LOT about QotSA's level and quality. I can forgive not having Feel Good Hit of the Summer (which is the better Go With the Flow), but not having No One Knows or Song for the Dead is almost criminal.
Here's mine (can't guarantee the order but those are my favorites):
10. Sick, Sick, Sick
09. Mosquito Song
08. Someone's in the Wolf
07. You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire
06. Everybody Knows That You're Insane
05. In the Fade
04. The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret
03. Make It Wit Chu
02. No One Knows
01. A Song for the Dead
Feel Good Hit of the Summer / I Appear Missing / You Can't Quit Me Baby almost made the cut, but then again I could easily pick 10 more songs and it would still be hard to narrow.
a top 5 of all time band for me. Seeing them live in 2014 was one of the best moments of my life.
I was commenting on the article, not on the comment section. The article, like any and all AF articles on this site as of late, was way too snarky and pointlessly mean spirited for no real reason.
I agree that the roll-out was awful and hurt the album a shit ton, but I didn't choose the FJM example out of nowhere, his roll-out was equally as obnoxious but somehow he avoided all the snark here because for him somehow playing this persona is acceptable (while in reality they were both equally exhausting)
Kurt was supposed to play here a few years ago but had to cancel for a reason I can't remember and said he'll reschedule. I really, really, really hope that this means there's a slight chance the Sea Lice tour will get here, that would be fucking excellent
I'm 100% sure that if it was the exact same video and jokes but with, say, Father John Misty instead of Butler, Stereogum would be all over this. chill guys, it's just a case of a mediocre album
This is really great! I feel like the name change is mostly to represent the change in sound and Dwyer's not going to keep it for the next album... Always looking forward to more Oh Sees !
This is a good time as any to strongly recommend Mura Masa's album for anyone who likes Funk Wav Bounces. Same summery vibe only done way better IMO, not posse cuts but the guests are gold (Damon Albarn, Charli XCX, A$AP Rocky and even Desiigner brings the heat). It's a seriously great summer album!!
