When I saw them at Hyde Park in '15 they had that ice cream truck on stage, and Damon was actually handing out ice cream to people in the front rows. I was in the 10-15 row range and I was sure I was going to get crushed to death
I thought Peter Pan was completely fine. Chemistry isn't very good but it isn't that bad either. Those two Infinite Contents parts are pretty awful though
WTF happened with this band though? They used to be great and every album of theirs since The Satanic Satanist has been considerably shittier than the one before.
This new one which is just basically Foster the Portugal the People-Man
Yeah, this is what I think. It's not their best by any means, it's definitely their weakest offering. But it's not a "bad" album, it definitely has replay value, and some of the tracks are even great. Do I want them to stay in this direction? Hell no. But I enjoyed listening to this for the most part.
I could've done without the two Infinite Contents though and maybe some more jams that sound like the back half (although I'd say that the first 4 tracks flow very nicely even though I hate when all the singles are grouped together)
The Real Estate album, while being their weakest since the debut, is still stronger then the Spoon album. Hot Thoughts had some incredible tracks (the two singles were two of this year's best songs IMO) but too much filler for a pretty short tracklist
Honestly expected way worse from that description and everything I read beforehand. Peter Pan is completely fine. The worst track(s) so far have been the two Infinite Content parts because nothing about them seems to work, from the stupid punk to the bland vocal delivery
sorry but you're slipping into hyperbole here. Is it good? not really. Do I remember what it sounds like after the first play? definitely not. But did it cause me to re-check whether Spotify mistakenly went into shuffle mode like Pistol? It definitely did not. Pistol was actively head-ache inducing where this is just a case of a mediocre song
Please stop trying to milk this single, it sucked in March too ):
The White Album was so fucking good, I really thought it was a step back in the right direction
Exactly the same for me, down to restoring for the first time not so long ago and being scared as hell about it.
I've just started using Spotify a couple months ago but still log more plays on my iPod. I just can't imagine myself without it. When I was traveling for 5 months without much internet access it was my best friend.
I just wish Apple would realise there's still a crowd for their large storage iPods. Just make way less of those and we'll all be happy
I only really finally got Veckatimest last year while listening to it a whole fucking lot when traveling in China. Something just clicked differently there. Foreground seemed somehow even impossibly prettier
What he's essentially saying about EDM is that none of those songs have staying power. Sure, the sound might make an unfortunate comeback at one point, but no one will remember those songs from a few years ago the way we do at other contemporary hits
I saw Converge live last month, that was a concert I'd never thought I'd get to witness as they never play anywhere near here and mostly play metal festivals in Europe which I never attend. Such an incredible band, It's so good to have them back. "Eve" is such a fucking beast.
I caught them live last Saturday and they were way better then they had any right to be. I'm not all that into those infinite Slash solos anymore, but Axl sounded mostly great and the band was extremely tight and they held up really well for 3 goddamn hours. The Appetite songs were of course better then anything else (though hearing Novemeber Rain love is quite something)
What an amazing, incredible and extremely emotional show. I'm so glad to have been there. I have much to say but I just got back and it's fairly late, so I just want to share one story with you all:
I was standing fairly up close (I'd say 6-7th row). The crowd around me was great and ecstatic. But my favorite part of possibly the whole night was when they played No Surprises. When they got to "Bring down the government part", everyone that I could hear or see around me raised their voices to a shout, and we all sang together, "they don't speak for us". Considering all the controversy this show brought, I thought that was an extremely powerful and exciting moment
Went with Slide, though for my money it could also be Cash Out.
Humble is second, but it's also going to show up on most SOTY lists so I'm cool with it not owning the summer solely
