When was there ever a "reason" for any leftist to do anything? Hundreds of thousand of Americans don't take action against Trump because there are financial, cultural or any other sorts of boycotts against them. They do so because they disagree with his views and acts, because they want their country to be better as they think it should. Why do you think it is any different for Israeli liberals/leftists?
Cancellations and cultural boycotts don't make anyone take a stand or make a move through the right direction. If anything, it causes more people to fortify their opinion, shift the blame to someone else (of the "They are hypocrites for not coming here" kind). I'm telling you this as an Israeli citizen - we've had our fair share of cancellations in the last few years, BDS or not, and not even once was the discourse afterwards regarding "What can we do to stop this from happening", but always "fuck those guys for cancelling", including various degrees of blaming for bias and/or anti-semitism.
The most that will come out of a cancelled concert as such is a few thousand people who will be deeply saddened. It will not end the occupation, it will not help Palestinians in need in Israel or in the territories. Nobody wins.
I'm seeing Radiohead in 5 days.
It's my second time but this time it's happening right here at home, and I'm almost losing it with anticipation. Y'all must know that it seemed doomed for us but it's really happening and I can't be fucking happier.
On the down side, it's the hottest fucking summer we've had in years, and I'm about to wait in a shadeless park venue for approx. 6 hours to grab a spot, so I might not make it. Wish me luck and enjoy your weekend!
And honestly, fuck Ken Loach. You can keep spewing shit about having to choose sides, yet not even once has a requested one of his films being pulled out of cinemas in Israel. "I, Daniel Blake" has been showing here for months. I guess when it's your own film earning money here suddenly there's more then black and white to this. Fuck off mate
Why the hell is it so hard for people to understand what Thom is clearly stating? They are not playing a Netanyahu convention. They're not playing an IDF Ceremony. Radiohead are coming to play for thousands of music lovers, people like me who are going to wait for hours to grab a front row spot to see their favorite band.
Fuck off with that bullshit logic, and thanks again to Thom Yorke and all of Radiohead for being a voice of reason.
I just saw them post this on Facebook and really hoped to see it here also! Criminally underrated band, their first 2 full lengths were some of my favorite albums in high school, and I can never seem to find anyone else who even knows who they are.
Outsiders is really fucking good, on first listen
There was a way to legally download the album for free if you enter a code (which was just "Sprint"). I'm guessing Sprint paid for each of those downloads and so they count as sales. Yup, still bullshit.
Isn't this just like with MCHG, where the fact that Samsung purchased a certain amount of albums to give away counted towards that album's platinum certification?
It's still bullshit anyhow, but I'm pretty sure he did this stupid stunt before, no? Paging Mikey Nel!
Out of the initial "big" chillwave bunch, Causers of This was the album I liked the least. I thought it paled in comparison with Washed Out, Memory Tapes or even Small Black (remember them?). But I'm extremely glad that he got better and more interesting with every release (Anything in Return being his masterpiece), to the point where now he's my favorite out of all those names I mentioned by a long mile.
Glad this album got the nod, really can't wait to hear it. The singles are extremely promising
I fucking love how they have Blur's Intermission on the film. That was a fucking "oh shit!" moment when I recognized that coming on.
The Damned and Blues Explosion scenes are also so fucking well choreographed, it's insane
They have both the Beck & T.Rex songs. Seriously, if you aren't familiar with Debra, you should get acquainted ASAP

You are only missing what they want you to miss
13-12 = 1
turn that 13 around and stick that 1 at the end. What did you get?
Yeah. 311. Are you surprised? I'm sure as hell ain't.
On first listen this morning I thought this was pretty bland & unmemorable. Listened again now and I like it better, but I really hope this is not the direction she's going with her new album, because I don't feel like this would gather a lot of repeat listens for me
Yeah, exactly what I'm thinking. Who the hell is taking about this album, let alone waiting for it? Sure, it's getting press, but I'd say that's because of Jay's extracurricular activities and his past status. The crowd reaction seems to be a shrug
"...making him the oldest rapper ever to release an event-rap album."
Have we all already forgot Dr. Dre's Compton?? That was a MUCH bigger event than a new Jay-Z album is now, and Dre was 50 then
YES! Those two songs are my favorite at the moment.
I'm pretty sure Justin is the one responsible for all the beautiful synth fuckery in Crabs in a Bucket, he did collab with Mairjuana Deathsquads in the past and that's the sorta stuff they do I think. Great fucking track
I know it's cool around these parts to shit on Arcade Fire now but the Creature Comfort video is actually pretty cool. Usually not a fan of "band playing" videos but I thought that one was pretty well shot
