You know, after he cancelled all those shows due to "production delays" I kinda expected some crazy ass stage show akin to Kanye or something. This seems like just some videos, which, ok sure you have a vision of sorts, but disappointing all those fans for this? Meh
I'd recommend not getting Hype too much. Frank playing one show doesn't mean he's going to follow through with the rest. Learn it from is disappointed Primavera people!
Oh how didn't I mention fucking Japandroids. Holy crap that was a fun as fuck show. Did some instagram digging and managed to find some vids of myself crowdsurfing which is fun to watch and remember now
I just came back from Primavera Sound in Barcelona, which was fucking incredible again this year. Arcade Fire's headline show was simply incredible, I honestly didn't realize I still liked them that much. It was almost life changing for me (first time seeing them live too).
Other than that Bon Iver was incredible, and Slayer was surprisingly one of my favorite shows of the festival.
Also probably seeing Pond next week, then Dillinger Escape Plan and Radiohead in July. Exciting times
I almoooost flew there for that, but the clashes were just too much for me to handle. I wish it will be a 2 day thing next time because the lineup was fantastic
How is the part about Radiohead not breaking up not making headlines?? I thought everyone on the web was thinking/fearing this is a final tour of sorts. I'm so glad to know it's not
Also I was just thinking a few days ago how weird it was that it's already June and we haven't heard any news of a new Oh Sees album. Glad to see it's here right on schedule, and even more glad to hear that the first single is a grand garage freakout!
Why the hell would they drop the 1979 from their name at this point though? Besides making no sense as they have already been around with this name for 10+ years, I'm pretty sure there isn't a single fan who like just "Death from Above" better than DFA1979. Weird move if you ask me.
Some is tight, appreciate them for trying to change their sound around a bit. I like it though I'm not sure it's going to go over well with fans
I'm so mad I got there late and missed No Cars Go (I know I'll be seeing them tomorrow, but hearing one of your favorite ever songs played love twice in one weekend is no small feat).
Overall the whole secret stage thing was pretty cool, even if it made me miss out on Broken Social Scene (but really though, couldn't they have performed just a bit earlier, when nothing very interesting was going on??)
Thank you Thom, for your well thought and well phrased response. As I commented on an earlier article regarding this issue, this kind of boycott only helps people reinforce the opinions they already came with, instead of possibly helping create a dialogue or any kind of thinking about the issue. Thank you for this response, hope it makes waves among people like Waters.
