BIG week for me over here! I saw Freddie Gibbs, Real Estate and Elton John in just 4 days!
Real Estate's show was the first with Julian Lynch! It was really good. They played a bunch of new songs which all sounded stellar, and after the show came to hang with the crowd. I was able to snag a pic with Martin and chat with all of them and they were so sweet. They signed my copy of Atlas too! I just love these guys so much.
Freddie's show was a something else. A lot of energy and his flow sounds incredible live. That was a lot of fun too. Didn't rap too much off of Pinata though.
As this week is over, I'm getting ready for what will probably be the best weekend of my life at Primavera! I'm finally going to see Radiohead!! And I was able to snag a ticket to LCD Soundsystem's pre-festival show in some club in Barcelona which is amazing because an intimate venue would be amazing.
Sorry for all the bragging, hope you guys are having some fantastic time too!
I'm not a big fan of the intro, but from the chorus on it really picks up, and the choruses especially are great. That high-register vocal part at about 3 minutes in was not expected though
Dunno man, I like the power in their simplicity well enough, but I also think Vision of Division is a hell of a song and it's wayyyy more complicated than this. So I'll take both as long as it sounds as good as this !
Whoa those opening horns caught me totally off guard. This is great! I also saw them live some 6 months ago and they absolutely nailed it. Ruban's guitar playing is so on point live it's ridiculous
Saw them on the same tour, insane show. Ami Shalev fell off the bass drum he was carried on and broke the nose of the guy standing behind me. Good times!
Ha, I'm still super bummed about their set conflicting with LCD Soundsystem. But I just found out that Oh Sees are playing here in August so I already reserved a ticket! new songs are going to slay!
I will never understand how Dwyer is able to continue pumping up all these amazing songs at this stellar pace. Mutilator was fire, and this song is incredible too. Can't wait to catch them this summer (and with two drummers!)
I'm sure they'll be fine! They played a bunch of new songs last night, which all sounded great, and I talked with Martin after the show and he said Lynch was there when they first wrote and played them... so we're in for some good stuff to come :)
Yup! It's a sample from the song "Yo Ya" by Kaveret (which means "Beehive" in case you were wondering). Check it out!

I saw them open for Faith No More in the Second Coming tour some 7 years ago, which was a fantastic bill. The problem was that seemingly everyone around me didn't know/care who Dino Jr. was and were just there to see FNM (the crowd consisted of mostly 30-somethings who grew up listening to FNM. I was 16). So throughout Dino's opening slot I kept hearing people complain about how noisy it was. Their live show was still awesome though
By the way: another reason this sucks is that Mondanile sampled a pretty famous Israeli song for the great Ducktails track "Couch Surfer", so I kinda hoped he would play that at some point in the show even tho that's something very unreasonable to expect. Oh well, I'll spin it later in his honor
NOOOO! This is such a bummer, especially considering I'm seeing them play TONIGHT (which is in about 3.5 hours here). The promoter uploaded a photo with the band earlier and people were wondering where's Matt at, and then some hours later I see that he quit :(
I'm still very excited for tonight, but this is a bummer. Wish him good luck though!
Oh wow that's a big week. Hesitation Wounds, PUP, Flume, Hotelier, Flume and Holy Fuck(!!). I still have almost a month of releases to go back to though, those last couple of weeks have been insane
Dude!! Can't wait that Hesitation Wounds! Haven't got around to listening to Head Wound City yet so this weekend is going to be full of loud wounds for me! Also this PUP is going to fucking rule I just know it
I don't think it's coming out over here which is a damn shame because I heard so many good things about it. Oh well, going to wait for some festival screening soon hopefully
That is some QUALITY detective work! I just love seeing music fans go wayyy deep to investigate shit like this. And I still can't believe we're going to get new Avalanches soon. This year is crazy
The setlists so far have been very wild. They soundchecked a lot of songs that haven't been played for years (Where I End and You Begin!) and played a lot of songs they haven't played in a long while (My Iron Lung, Creep, Talk Show Host!). I love how different each show has been so far and that there's an element of surprise before each show. Maybe I'll get to catch Jigsaw Falling Into Place. Hope so!
