I mean, I am too, and TKoL is definitely the (second) weakest RH album, but I don't think it's fair to say there isn't life to it or that people are lying about enjoying it. Sometimes these albums become better after a more than a few repeat listens, or some parts get stuck with you. This is my personal experience with TKoL, at least. These days it's not the Radiohead album I'm going to randomly put on, but I still enjoy it a lot from time to time, and I used to spin the hell out of it when it came out.
This album could be the same for Ye, I guess. Though I'd argue it's way more approachable.
I like this album a lot. I'm not going to argue it's top 5 Yeezy or something, because it's definitely not, but this feels fresh and not as messy as TLOP (which I will keep arguing is a masterpiece).
The first track is my favorite so far, it has a great build and the lyrical content is very surprising and unlikely for Kanye. I think the reception to it on here would have been a lot whole different if it was the intro track for a longer album, but what can I say. Already waiting to read the discussion around this album in a few months.
lol what? ALLA is pretty great and consistent throughout. Testing is somewhere between plain awful to "meh". There are some great tracks but the back half barely has anything going on for it, save for one Frank feature
This is some real good shit. I'm liking all these excellent, condensed short rap albums of the past couple weeks, such a refreshing change to be able to listen to a great rap project and be left wanting much more when it's over instead of exhausted like the rest of the major albums
I went back to Tomorrow's Modern Boxes to double-check if I still enjoy it and yes, I do. It's not as good as The Eraser (which is one of my favorite albums) but it's still pretty good, and definitely not "tuneless". The Mother Lode and There's No Ice are damn good
Views has a pretty damn great 10-track album hidden in it, but the huge amount of filler makes it really hard to realize that.
Feel No Ways is indeed great, and I'm also pretty fond of Keep the Family Close as an opener
The Fall was pretty meh, but it wasn't recorded as a "follow-up" to Plastic Beach. Damon was recording stuff on his iPad during tour and decided to put it out for free for fans to hear. This doesn't seem to be the same case - Damon spoke multiple times about recording enough material for more than one album and wanting to be more active with Gorillaz than how it was on previous albums.
and yeah, Humanz was pretty damn bland, so I hope Damon listened to some of the criticism about it and this album comes out better
If we consider any of the Wide Awake songs, we HAVE to talk about Normalization and Violence. The first one is modern-day Minutemen (which is the highest form of compliment), and the other is just insanely good
Wide Awake is fantastic, one of the best on this great album. The weak single was definitely Mardi Gras Beads, but even that sounds great in the album context. what a great album huh?
I saw Tricky a few years ago and it was the worst live show I have ever seen. The crowd was actually pretty enthusiastic (though shitty, as are most crowds here), but the show was unbearable. I felt ripped off despite not having paid for a ticket
Yeah, what the hell is going on with this album? It's just not good, like, AT ALL. everyone took shots on the new Jack White while in reality Testing is the true """just experimenting l o l" enemy
Shiiiiit these are some good bars. Where has this Drake been the last two years??
Let's just hope this top quality beef keeps going, hopefully Ye got some extra tasty beats waiting for Push to hop on
It already has, for a nice price too, and if shipping costs to here weren't more than double the actual record price I would've probably ordered it before it was actually out.
On the other hand if all songs aren't on the same side of the record this is going to be a bitch to listen to
It's not even dropping for another week, so you can call this a boiling take, but this is with no doubt FJM's best album. It really is just so good. Pure Comedy was a real letdown for me, so I was worried he'll keep going down that road, but boy did he deliver with this one
