he moved from victim-blaming to condemning his own behavior, that definitely shows his sorry. is it a public apology? no, but he's definitely sorry. that's why i said "sorry" and not "apology" -- bc language matters :)
if you mean her 2013 record the highway, i absolutely love that album! wrote about it here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/harmonicait/country-music-2013#.fdYKW8yVG (#5)
country artists evolve by having incredibly strong songwriting (or selecting songs with this) and i talked about how this album doesn't have that/works as carbon copies of songs on Trailer. 100% disagree about artists having social/political obligations so can't help you there. i am definitely not writing up kacey as a person, but discussing her choices as an artist and their ramifications on the scope of a genre, yeah that interests me way more than using an adjective to talk about a fiddle noise. no comment on hopper.
trash face -- a) incredible username, truly. b) you kinda nailed my own feelings on him :) even if it's a gimmick idk it works on me? and the new songs are emotional. plus 2 was such a great record
i lived in california for 5 years, i know what it is. i meant in terms of artistic communities and i stand by that 100%, everyone glosses over for SF, LA, SB etc.
thank you for explaining that, it makes SO much more sense to me now. i do think there's a difference between a misogynistic rap lyric and publicly targeting a specific woman by name. hence, why the A$AP/rita ora debacle was disgusting to me. a slight difference in this that the woman in question here is not a public figure in the sense that rita is, but that is only a slight difference to me.
if i was someone who often took offense to internet comments i couldn't have this job. but i will point out that it was a poor comparison. also i didn't comment until the end of the day because i was writing new posts for you guys to read :)
equating my respect and admiration for kim kardashian to kozelek's misogyny? only a blochead would do that. if you'd like to read more of my thoughts on the subject instead of steeping in your own opinions, you are always welcome to: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/kim-kardashians-cat-died-and-it-taught-me-the-meaning-of-true-love
calling a specific woman a "bitch" and claiming that she "wants to fuck you" while trying she is trying to do her job IS misogyny. it's the most fundamental act of misogyny.
the comparison you're drawing between rappers and Republicans is fascinating, please tell me more? personally, i'm all for celebrating the way rappers subvert capitalist forces that were built off systematic racism in america. especially when it involves incredible production from hit-boy like this song does. as far as donald trump releasing music? you are 100% correct i would write something about that.
i usually use it to signify an artist like ariel who makes music that's insanely catchy but purposefully fucked up in terms of auditory quality and disruptive elements that warp the traditional structure -- that's kind of his signature move. a song like this, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GI-14qTcOk. i hope that helps you understand!
