Surprised we haven't gotten anything from you guys about Chronixx's new album. For one thing its uh really fucking good, I thought the review on that other site was pretty spot on. And second it has some undeniable pop jams. "Loneliness" deserves to be in song of the summer contention.
I wonder if some of the trap that's coming out of Korea, Japan and China right now will ever really catch on here. To be honest it's only slightly harder to understand Keith Ape than some of these dudes and he's speaking Korean.
Apparently depression and anxiety and suicidal thoughts aren't particularly uncommon among K-pop stars. Looks like TOP had the triple whammy of having to take his military service, which basically puts a 2 year halt on his career and his music output and BigBang itself and then having been disgraced by not even getting to do the military service because he smoked weed.
And he's actually a pretty fucking good rapper.
I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a piece on Asian rap on Stereogum yet. Rich Chigga, Keith Ape, Kohh, Higher Brothers, Dumbfoundead, even G-Dragon from BigBang. Some interesting music coming out.
I can't imagine why anyone who has watched Jerry Seinfeld's show, stand-up or other ventures would think "Hmm, now that seems like a guy who really loves getting hugged by people he doesn't know."
I don't know guys I think Halsey really showed how "counter-culture" and "alternative" she is when in the middle of her song "Colors" she unleashed this brilliant spoken word interlude:
"You were red, and you liked me because I was blue. But you touched me, and suddenly I was a lilac sky. Then you decided purple just wasn't for you"
Alternative A.F.
Skins glamorized mental illness? I admittedly haven't seen the whole series but from what I've seen it is quite apparent that all of their lives are totally fucked.
Chance is already corny. We're talking about a dude who put 2 and a half minutes of "How Great Is Our God" on his hip-hop mixtape. Corny isn't always bad though. Chance is the good kind of corny.
The fact that "Find Me" hasn't been released as a single and pushed literally everywhere is shocking. It sounds like a modern 80's Don Henley. Even Pitchfork liked it.
Damn I hope I can be 1% as cool as Rob Trujillo is when I'm fifty fucking two.
Also Lars was really struggling with some of those fills during For Whom The Bell Tolls, lol
I can't be the only one who just thought this was a cool performance right? Idk, there's something very satisfying about very old school funky R&B being performed live with no backing track with actually retro gear and with a host of backup singers sounding like a gospel choir?
I mean I totally get the revivalism criticism of it and his new album but I'm just saying it's pretty dope shit to revive.
