I'm just a "using ass"-ass writer.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought my big strength as a writer was the conversational-rhythm thing, and I am *definitely* the kind of person who indiscriminately peppers conversations with the word "ass."
I don't think I can properly convey how weird it was, seeing like Jawbox and Sick Of It All and Chainsaw Kittens and Surgery get snapped up and then ignored.
It did not. "Old Town Road" charted for one week on the country chart, and then Billboard decided that it wasn't sufficiently country and removed it. This led to a whole press shitstorm that probably helped push "Old Town Road" to #1.
There are a couple of other country-to-pop crossover #1s, but none for a long time.
I'm a September '79s baby, right on the X/millennial cusp. I knew the Manson version first; it was huge when I was in high school. I prefer the Eurythmics one by a vast margin.
This fuckin rules! Guitar is extremely East Bay Ray!
As a punk going to see Flashdance in the theater, did you do a double-take when Lee Ving showed up as the skeezy strip-club goon?
Kinda feel like I've gotten into the MJ allegations already and I don't need to dig into them on every MJ piece I write. There are moments when it'll be relevant -- "You Are Not Alone," yeesh -- but all these pieces are already gonna be crazy long even without me addressing that stuff.
There is no amount of money that would make my disavow my stance that "Don't Stop Believin'" is a 10.
Also, "Lights" peaked at #68, but I'd give that one a 10, too, if I could.
