In an Open Field is soooo good, it came out late last year and totally disrupted my year-end list. This is a pleasant surprise!
Me too! "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast" is still a jam.
New Kim Petras yeeeeeessssss. She deserves as many hits as she has songs, hopefully this one will do something. Looking forward to the Christina, the singles have me intrigued.
Where Are You Going is a beautiful song and I will die on this hill.
Oh my god she is SO GOOD. I wish the ep was longer than four songs, but they're all gold. That she writes, produces, and performs everything boggles my mind.
Integrity Blues really is fantastic. I had it on loop in the car for longer than most albums would last, it's one of their best.
Agree with all of this except that "Don't Judge Me" is my favourite song on the album.
My AOTY so far is Golden Hour, with this at #2. I find her voice sounds so much like Kylie Minogue that it's like listening to some Bizarro World Kylie album, which is just endlessly delightful.
Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves.
You can listen to it now at NPR!
Yeah, it just seems like there's no way she's going to have a hit with any of this, so why not just put out a quality album? I can't believe these are the best of 200 songs?!
Ironically, I WAS streaming it until Stereogum cut my music off. Anyway, I love Tinashe, so having nearly finished my first listen I am experiencing cognitive dissonance and anxiety. This is not very good! This album suffers mightily from Ciara Syndrome, in which one phrase is repeated ad nauseam as the chorus. That’s lazy writing! Thank goodness for Salt and maybe No Contest - nothing else here is as good as the like eight best songs on Aquarius, or even Nightride.
All three tracks are not it, which leaves seven (not including interludes), which makes me VERY WORRIED.
Oh yeah, this is right in that Beach Fossils/Real Estate/Pure X sweet spot I love so much.
Man, I love Tinashe, but this current run of singles is abysmal. This sounds thin and cheap, has no chorus, and she cannot play tennis. My high hopes for Joyride are PLUMMETING.
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I was so excited about an album. Like, maybe the Cassie album that never happened?
We have rap here? Seriously, Lab Coast is great and anyone into lo-fi-but-tuneful indie rock should have a listen. This project is sounding good, too.
I liked Painted Ruins quite a bit, but it's currently sitting at $40 on Amazon and I haven't seen it for much less in any of the local shops. If you're not Blur or Saint Etienne, I'm probably not paying that much for your album.
