I like her albums but always have trouble connecting with her voice. It's the standard line, but it is usually too babyish for me. But that performance was beautiful, it's like having to project on TV and without vocal overdubs pinging all over the place instilled her voice with new clarity and force. Loved that.
This guy's constant assholery would make me feel really conflicted about enjoying his music, if I did actually enjoy it. Luckily, jock jams aren't my thing.
I was actually a little stunned to see this as AOTW, and boy was I happy. This was a great week for albums - I bought five - and this is the one I can't stop playing. For me, Usher is the best voice in pop, and I'd always hoped he could come up with a strong full-length. Tom got it just right; the first two tracks are crap, the rest are excellent. It is a pity this one had to come up against Hot Chip, though, I do think their new one is also their best.
Also, if you think this song sounds like eurotrash, you obviously didn't listen. This has none of the bombastic synthiness you're thinking it does. This is slinky, melancholy disco, and it's quite lovely.
If you don't like it, don't watch. It's not like this site is non-stop k-pop, and I love that they cherry pick the best stuff for me. K-pop is still under the radar enough in North America that you're not seeing It everywhere else, and this track is spectacular.
I think their first two records complement each other nicely. Room On Fire has some change-ups but doesn't throw away the identity they carved out on Is This It. I also don't get the reviewers that didn't like Angles, everyone I know who's head it thinks that album is great, and so do I.
Isn't this just Yonkers again? So far I find Tyler the least interesting member of Odd Future. I don't think I could make it through a whole album of this shit.
