I don't get too angry about spoilers unless they come out of nowhere. If I'm reading an interview with Idris Elba, I can't be upset is a spoiler comes up. If I'm reading about a cat video and someone randomly spouts out a major plot point for something I haven't yet seen, that pisses me off. I don't think there is a statute of limitations on anything that isn't big enough in the pop culture world to be considered common knowledge. While a Batman movie might be okay to casually reference after it leaves theaters, I don't think deaths on the Sopranos will be for quite a while. It might seem like everyone has seen it, but there shouldn't be that expectation. At least, that's my take.
I, too, always enjoy Modern Family. This is the first I've heard of Happy Endings, so I'll check it out! The Middle is a solid successor to family sitcoms like Roseanne and Malcolm in the Middle. I haven't seen Cougartown either, but, strangely, I've only heard good things. It does have the Abed Seal of Approval, after all.
I was already in favor of this movie, and then they introduced a sandwich that is lethal to Kevin Spacey! You know how I feel about sandwiches, you guys!
Yeah, that phrasing bothered me too, but he was speaking in the context of this particular guy who is, in fact, a convicted molester of boys.
I don't think the judge was trying to say that those things go together, but rather that this man was clearly in denial about his own proclivities, and that denial led to his sexuality manifesting itself in a hideous way.
Also, keep in mind that we only heard a small part of what the judge said, and it was out of the context of his overall statement. Those troublesome phrases might have been more understandable in context.
