Monkey Goes to Heaven rules.
Aside from that, ranking Doolittle songs makes Sophie's Choice easy, can't be done. It's literally perfect and shifted the tectonic plates of alternative music.
In my mind, Grimes has always struck me to be a musician of the future. Like someone you'd see in the background on stage as some aluminum dressed space opera singer while you're watching some 1982 sci fi set in 2040 saying to yourself, 'Man, imagine if that's what it's really gonna be like!?". And, for the most part she evolving into that based on her actions, voice and music. This review, which is great, doesn't surprise me given her massively creative ADD personality. It seems to me she's having trouble processing it all.
That was a good little run toward there to start the 90's....the well polished Freedom then over to Crazy Horse for Ragged then back for the tranquil Harvest Moon. Insane trifecta. Then came his Unplugged which was a monsterous success for him.
This all reminds me of a funny bit where Dennis Miller one time joked about Celine Dion making a statement to the world that she was struggling to have the world see her as just a regular person...through her publicist.
Yeah, I can't feel much Walkmen in this.... good tune tho.
Not knowing, at all, I'd think it be real tough to create a separate identity from your origin band when you go off solo, especially with such as distinct a voice as Hamilton. He seems to be evolving into his own brand pretty well over the past few years, like it or not.
Loretta,
Jason Isbell, MMJ, FJM, Kevin Morby, to name a few would strongly disagree. Just those examples alone provide more crossovers than James Harden
I did a deep dive on Khruangbin this week, or should I say, a YouTube portal that took me down a rabbit hole of algorithm madness....either way, this dude can groove.
I actually don't completely dislike these...Daddys almost seems like a Parachutes/Rush of Blood hybrid and Guns has a tongue in cheek anti gun catch to it.
All in all, these all seem to be shaping up to a solid 6.2
