3 girls at once is an "orgy" now? 1987 Motely Crue is unimpressed.
Abramovic is a much maligned ass clown of the NYC art scene, so her lack of due diligence here isn't the least bit surprising.
With the down votes, please give your reasoning for disapproving of what I just said. Guns N' Roses, Anthrax, Tool, Eminem all have songs about violence and/or violence towards women, yet we are not outraged. Jesus, last year Stereogum and every other music trade paper out there was falling over themselves for Run the Jewels when they had songs actively encouraging murder. And what's more all of these examples were RELEASED for the public to here, imagine what was left on the cutting room floor (like this song was meant to). Once again, not a fan of Rich Homie and I'm certainly not saying he's artistically on the same level as these examples, but the principle is the same. Are people outraged because they're assuming Rich Homie is only capable of rapping things that actually happened to him? Silly question, people are outraged because it is the fastest way to self gratification nowadays. It's art, sometimes it goes ugly places. It might not be very good art, but its still art. Get over it.
Dear Lordy Lord, All the horrible shit sung/said in song lyrics and getting in a tizzy about something that wasn't even released. I'm no fan of Rich Homie or his brand of rap but its a creative process. You really want to put every artist on trial for something they do or say in their work space? Double standards running wild.
Melodies match up well, but the lyrics don't match at ALL (aside from vague comic value).
He had just cashed a pay check. Also he showed them the money (not too bright) but I guess you don't expect part of a famous rappers crew to steal from you. By the way, this took one google search and about 3 minutes. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/04/06/dmx-accused-of-robbing-new-jersey-man-at-a-gas-station-police-say/
Agreed, all the editorializing at the end of this article is combination of vague assumptions and ignorance mixed together into a big bowl of wrong. The least you could say is "$3200 sure is a lot of money to be carrying around at a gas station in Newark at 12:30." (although he was driving, its not like he was strolling the streets). That way you aren't insinuating the victim must have been a drug dealer or pimp. It is possible that the guy was exaggerating how much money it was or he could be lying about this or that, but oh wait, the story provides absolutely no information to back up those assumptions. Either wait until there is more information or don't say anything at all.
Interesting video. Really nice use of context to shape a scene. Not to be a total buzzkill though, but if we're looking at this as a form of storytelling it doesn't really make sense that the black guy would flee, given the ending.
While race could have something to do with this consider for a moment that these people don't like Kanye's music. If you don't like his music what are left with? An obnoxious, pompous, egomaniac that parades around with his tabloid wife saying things like "Kim is more relevant than Michelle Obama." I think he's an extremely talented performer and producer, but the guy can be pretty insufferable as a human being.
Alright, "violence" aside, there is no way that painting is worth $4500.
Azalea Banks being mature enough to stomp a feud? Yeah right. The place she's burying the hatchet is in someone's skull.
As someone who studied the Vietnam War and contemporary history of South East Asia in college, this is pretty ridiculous. Are there people that don't like the Viet Cong to this day? Sure. Were the Viet Cong any more brutal than any other fighting force of the last 150 years? Not particularly. Actually compared to what the French did to the Vietnamese in the 50s, the Viet Cong are practically saints.
I'm not the world's biggest Beyonce fan by a long shot but Single Ladies was a pretty transcendent hit.
Hey Annie, I've given it some thought and I've decided that I would be willing to go on a date with you.
My dad was a big music hound growing up. He was also a big Zeppelin fan. He saw them by chance at the Filmore East way back before anyone had ever heard of them. He still talks about the first time he heard "Communication Breakdown" (their opening number that night). He has instilled a lot of musical wisdom in me and one of those pieces of wisdom is this simple truth: Nothing, not even "Stairway" can match the mind blowing power of the first time a human being hears Led Zeppelin I. You got it wrong Stereogum. You got it wrong.
If he blows up about it he risks looking like the self absorbed jerk, especially since him winning was so surprising. Besides, he's be shown to roll with these things in the past (I.E. David Lee Roth jerking off behind him at the VMAs way back)
Those cows had been planning on being burgers for years!
Woah, wasn't expecting to see myself up there. That's kind of cool.
What I would like to know is, when The Weekend showed up for this and he saw dancers with tape x's on their butt cheeks was he like "okay, yeah, I get this." or was he like "WTF?"
And now there will be nothing to stop the Christmas Critters from bringing the son of The Dark Lord Satan into this world. Way to go, asshole.
Don't do drugs.
This is an example of time distorting gravity. What do we mean by greatest? What has the best songs? What has the most lasting legacy? I think Dark Side's accomplishments trump any other album on this list. It is arguably PF's best musically and unquestionably their most influential. Jonathan decided the personal appeal with Barrett's connection to Wish You Were Here outweighed anything Dark Side accomplished, I think anyone that isn't a die hard fan of PF would have trouble agreeing. But whatever, it's only a list.
Its not really much of an "apology", per se. Not that she should apologize for people not understanding the video's imagery, there is nothing objectively offensive here (It's not a NIN video). Its really more of an explanation then a "sorry if you don't get it."
I actually think this is some pretty good story telling through dance. Good song too.
Sounds like you waste a lot of energy hating people you don't even know.
It's funny how much things change generationally. Nowadays the Ramones are practically considered pop. Back then with the look and the fast crunchy guitars, singing about nazis, they were really edgy. it always reminds me of the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs, how hilarious it must have been to see a bunch of grown men, criminals, musing about the discography of Madonna. Today a lot of people think of Madonna as of the older generation so that scene is nearly as ridiculous as it was.
An important message to all the 14 year old virgin girls out there singing along to this: actual sex is nothing like this song, fortunately.
Straight dude here. It was just your gayness.
Dr. Luke's character aside, I'm having trouble believing some of these charges brought against him by Kesha. The main reason is that Kesha clearly has been feuding with him for a while and has no quams about stating her unhappiness and frustrations regarding Dr. Luke publicly. Why stay silent for so long on these very serious allegations? I know a lot of women do not reveal abuse out of fear or love for there abuser, but if you look the things Kesha has said about Dr. Luke in the months leading up to her lawsuit, she clearly neither fears, loves, or even respects the guy. Maybe there's additional information that hasn't been brought to light yet, but as is It just doesn't add up to me.
This song is far from their best, and their albums as whole frequently come up short. But most of the singles are enjoyable. Also, the ending of this video is cray.
Here I was hoping for a cover from the song from the "Into the Woods" soundtrack. Blood curddeling scream and all.
Am I missing something here, is Ariel Pink referring to himself in this quote?
So, I'll ask you now, what necessarily makes all small white sheltered men racist/sexist/etc? What you're saying really isn't exclusive to "sheltered white guys", there are plenty of oblivious, self obsessed, racist/sexist people out there in all walks of life.
The Rwanda thing is pretty hilarious. But, Tom, I'm confused about your confusion at the inclusion of the word nice. Why couldn't sheltered tiny white men be nice, pleasant human beings? Or are you just shocked he called any group of people "nice"?
I hope you choke on your next plate of fried chicken and waffles and there is no mimosa in sight to save you.
Not sure if he said it sucks, but Steven Hyden of Grantland doesn't seem to like the album very much. http://ratedwrong.com/home/2014/10/8/rating-grantlands-rating-of-weezer.html
