I think its safe to say that his level of animosity towards anyone asking anything of him is a very strong indication that he very much gives a shit. If he didn't he wouldn't care enough to write a song like this.
I don't know how I feel about this. In a vacuum, it is funny. But it feels like the sort of thing Will Ferrell would do if he was playing an unhinged folk singer in a movie. Is that really what we want from Kozelek?
Here's the problem any time Laure Jane Grace pops off at someone. I typically don't know anything about the person she is attacking, while I do know that Laura has a long history of being disgruntled, petulant, and mercurial. Point being, I find it hard to take her side most of the time when she's being the least mature person in the room.
This whole thing feels a lot like celebrity message board. What Rollins said was bad, for sure, but everybody has an emotional melt down on the internet from time to time, we're just not famous. Rollins is usually a pretty sharp knife and he's issued a very sincere sounding apology. I hope this doesn't escalate any further.
More of this racist, sexist B.S? And if you are confused by that last sentence, YES, it is racist. "No one else can do these things unless they are the same race as me". Pretty much the exact definition.
I know this might be a moot point but regardless of your opinions around the circumstances around their deaths, neither Trayvon Martin or Jordan Davis' deaths had anything to do with police brutality.
This isn't bad. Very good musically, lyrics are a little hokey but I can live with them. Hopefully its not the best song on the album though.
Raditude and Make Believe are Weezer's two worst albums. We are All on Drugs is their worst single. Hurley is a little underrated (though it has a couple of duds). Red album is very underrated if you include the bonus tracks (which are vintage 90s Weezer quality).
Unless it is clearly not meant to be taken literally people should never EVER say this sort of thing. It is highly disturbing and manipulative to the people that care about you.
The tracks sound... sort of promising. I would like to say though, regardless of musical quality, the band is pretty innovative with their little home movies.
I think the main difference is that usually, appropriation of religious Christian symbols are usually perceived as an affirmation of the religion. Most appropriation of Native American cultural and religious icons are done with total ignorance of their cultural significance (although, typically they are celebrating the aesthetic aspect of it).
