UPDATE: Management denies that the Strokes are back in the studio (via Pitchfork).
When the Strokes reassembled to release their album Angles two years ago, we saw tons of reports about how the recording process was contentious, how Julian Casablancas wasn’t recording with the rest of the band, how some members of the band may not have been happy with the final product. It wasn’t at all clear that the five of them would be getting back together anytime soon. So it’s heartening to see the Billboard report that the band have lately been at work in New York’s Electric Lady studios, tracking their fifth album with producer Gus Oberg, who helped to mix Angles. It’s set to be the band’s final album under their RCA contract. Let’s all cross our fingers that they’ll be able to re-bottle some of that old lightning.

Haven’t they said this since Angles came out?

How is this news? We still don’t even have a general time frame. Besides ” the band have lately been at work in New York’s Electric Lady studios, tracking their fifth album with producer Gus Oberg,” there’s nothing here we didn’t already know.
Lies! Lies and slander!
Is it libel since it’s printed? Either way, lies.
By the way, I realized this sounded like a douchebag correcting someone’s wording. Woops. I was actually just trying to remember the difference between libel and slander. Don’t know why I felt the need to type my thoughts.
It’s all good, sir. As an English major, I should’ve known the difference. Then again, I did go to school in the middle of nowhere…
I think both of you need to kiss and make up. Who really knows what’s up? http://pitchfork.com/news/46829-the-strokes-not-at-work-on-new-album/
