The latest video from the Shins very-good-to-great LP Port Of Morrow registers in a similar fashion to the Shins weakest songs: no frills but still perfectly pleasant. This is fine, because when the band really hits it song or video-wise, it’s a totally memorable affair. (Case in point on both fronts: “The Rifle’s Spiral.”) Here, though, it’s just the Shins at band practice, where the most interesting thing aside from how many guitars James Mercer has laying around everywhere is that they look like nice people who like each other and their music and would be pleasant to hang out with. (This Funny Or Die thing also helps prove that point.) Watch:
Port Of Morrow is out via Sub Pop.

Mmm. I remember seeing this “video” back in february or march.
You thinkin of the similar one for Bait and Switch? http://stereogum.com/966191/the-shins-bait-and-switch-video/video/
it’s all smiles until papa james gets sick of ya – then you’re out on your ass.
How is it that everything The Shins do is so incredible? I just watched their video for “It’s Only Life” the other day and it is amazing http://bit.ly/S5isCl I may like it more than “No Way Down” haha
Real moving seeing the band really feel what their doing! Totally loving Port of Morrow. For details about the art in the video “It’s Only Life” check this out: http://www.spin.com/articles/watch-shins-deceptively-sinister-its-only-life-video. I’m so impressed!
