It’s our first mixtape of summer! Accordingly, you should probably just act first and think later and just download it with reckless abandon, as you should do absolutely everything now that it is the season of impulsive behavior. But if you are incapable of such youthful indiscretion without examining the fine print/weighing every possible life consequence, then a) we have a lot in common and b) this mixtape will still please. It opens with Cat Power, so already, pretty good. It also features bona fide summer jams like “Pyramids” by Frank Ocean and “Fineshrine” by Purity Ring, alongside recently released beat-hazers by Clams Casino and Physical Therapy, a gnarled burst of punk from recent BTW Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, some solo psych-pop from erstwhile Deerhoofer Chris Cohen, the return of Micachu And The Shapes, a track from the goddess Laetitia Sadier and her aesthetic progeny Slowdance, chillier contributions from the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart-offshoot Ice Choir and Cold Cave, and sultrier cuts by Azealia Banks and Yeasayer and Raleigh Moncrief (in collab with vacationing Dirty Projector Angel Deradoorian). It’s 15 tracks strong, praise be to the Promo Gods, who were kind and made many things available as downloads rather than Soundcloud streams or what have you through the month of June.
Now that the spontaneous and the studious amongst you are equally provided for, please download Stereogum’s June mixtape below. Then vote for the indie song of summer. Both are free, legal, and endearing activities. Enjoy:

I gotta say, I’m really enjoying this new Yeasayer material.
All i gotta say is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I appreciate that you appreciate this mixtape’s genre. +1.
Isn’t that the Genre symbol for Frank’s “Pyramids” ?
yes! ID3 tag nerds unite.
That genre’s bad, it’s bad, it’s not good.
chris cohen, good track, totally hear the ariel pink in there
Add Poolside “Slow Down” to this and you’d have a playlist ideal for that Beach Boy’s calendar photo.
ya that song makes me feel exactly like the video looks
Pyramids, people. Unfuckingbelievable tune.
Dude looks like he’s about to get a spankin’
This reminded me to listen to the may mix….
X to the Z knows what I’m talking about
High hopes for the album…
Damn, Amrit is out of control this summer. Also, this mix is fantastic.
And it’s supposed to be 104 here this weekend/4th of July, so I’m going to hole up in a Cold Cave, eat some Clams Casino, and hope an Ice Choir will provide to me the Cat Power to Slowdance with my lady. If the situation Micachu and the Shapes up well, I may offer my Purity Ring in the hopes she’ll be a Yeasayer and we can share some Physical Therapy if you know what I mean.
I’m sorry.
JaggerT are you in the DC-metro area too?
Naw, I’m in Tennessee. Shit’s blazin’ everywhere!
That Ice Choir track sounds like a hit (from a John Hughes movie). Woo hoo.
