Last night, Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, an icon in Seattle, was traded to the New York Yankees, a transaction that was made even weirder by the fact that the Yankees were currently in town. Feeling sentimental, Seattle resident Ben Gibbard hit the web with his tribute to Ichiro, a saccharine, upbeat number commemorating Suzuki’s heroics and time with the team. Stream it below.
Here’s Ichiro bowing to the Mariners’ crowd before collecting his first hit as a Yankee:
“Ichiro’s Theme” will not appear on his new album, a release we discussed in greater depth with Gibbard here.

This sounds like a theme song to a superhero cartoon from the 60′s.
Welcome to the Bronx, newest Bomber.
I came for the song; I stayed for the video. The applause and the bow were beautiful.
the song should have started, “This song is about a baseball player named Ichiro. It’s called Ichiro’s Theme!”
Sincerely my favorite song of his since We Have the Facts
