Torche are simply not the sort of metal band to put magical elves and ogres in their music videos. So when the glowy-eyed beasties do show up in their new clip for the soaringly catchy dude-metal anthem “Kicking,” it helps to know that they’re hallucinations that come from a head injury at an uproariously awkward adult kickball game. Director Andrew James Cox manages to hit all the inspirational sports-movie beats while making fun of them at the same time, and that hallucination sequence is a thing to behold.
