Feel It Break, Austra’s dark and heady electro-pop debut, was one of last year’s great grower albums, a slow bubbler that sank under your skin and stayed there. The band recently taped a live-in-studio Scion Sessions show, debuting the new track “Painful Like,” which has a little bit more of a house-party thump but keeps all of Feel It Break‘s mystique. of all the new electro groups that have emerged, this band (still) stands above the crowd.
I love Austra, but their singer really ought to reconsider the platinum hair/dark brown eyebrows combo. Same goes for Zola Jesus, BTW. It’s just BAD.
No way, they both look great! Although yeah, I’ll admit Zola Jesus occasionally goes overboard with the hair dye…
