The first track we heard from Matthew Dear’s soon-to-be-released Beams, “Her Fantasy,” saw the electo auteur delivering a dark techno-synthpop hybrid. “Earthforms” is even sparer and more straightforward; Dear sings a haunting, indelible melody over a New Order-ish bass line, driving percussion and slinky guitar. Listen.
