Pair this off with Friday’s taste from post-millennial indie rock’s other most visible Canadian collective. The New Pornographers’ anticipated forthcoming fifth-length Together is due in May, with its core crew (A.C. Newman, Dan Bejar, Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, John Collins, Kurt Dahle, Todd Fancey, and Blaine Thurier) bolstered by the came talents of Annie Clark, Zach Condon, Will Sheff, the Dap-Kings horns, and cetera. Matador’s let loose its first sample with the blustery, Carl-and-Neko power-popper “Your Hands (Together),” which is up for grabs here:

“Your Hands (Together)” MP3 link is down! Help!
Just click on the Matablog link and you can get the MP3 from there.
Very catch song, looking forward to the album.
that is?
Isn’t his affinity for Jackie?
Hey sorry, weird tech thing happened there, file’s OK for download now. (And yes alex, you are correct.)
If you guys didn’t catch AC Newman’s solo “Get Guilty” last year, do it. For me, it was the most underrated record from last year. Sounds like he’s still on a roll, writing-wise.
I have to respectfully disagree with you, pal. In my opinion, Newman’s last two albums (TNP’s “Challengers” and “Get Guilty”) are both decent at best, and mediocre at worst (the best songs on “Challengers” were all penned by Bejar). This song is more of the same: okay, but instantly forgettable I don’t know, I just think the guy ran out of interesting ideas after the first three excellent NP albums and “The Slow Wonder” (which is the true underrated Newman album). Here’s hoping the rest of the album is better. P.S. As I was writing this, an alert popped up on my screen informing me that an email from The New Pornographers’ “The Fake Headlines” newsletter arrived in my inbox. I think that is funny.
I agree with everything except your assessment of this song, which I think fucking slays.
NP takes bright, flashy colors and turns them into music.
This just reminds me how much I miss The New Pornographers.
This song is killer. Totally rocks my Monday morning.
The Slow Wonder is better than any of the Pornographer stuff. And I love the Pornographer stuff. Miracle Drug is TNP taken to new extremes.
Sorry, that was meant to be a reply to kidacomputerok. First time commenting and trying to figure out the system.
Can we talk about how sick May is going to be for Canadian albums. We get TNP and BSS on the same exact day followed up by Wintersleep two weeks later. May will be a huge up here. Luckily Arcade Fire got out of there because they were also slotted for May at one point.
Not to mention that The National have an album too.
Reminds me of when i saw the new pornos with okkervil in columbus. Great show. I wonder how will is gonna contribute to the album
