
“Für Hildegard Von Bingen” is the first single from Devendra Banhart’s upcoming album Mala. The song is named after a German saint who was known for writing texts on botany and medicine, as well as having mystical visions — seems like the right kind of saint to inspire Banhart to write a song. Bingen’s visions began when she was three years old and she wasn’t so keen on letting other people know what she had been seeing. Here, Banhart sings about feeling suffocating, leaving your congregation and, of course, mysticism. Check it out below.
