Thee Oh Sees’ “Toe Cutter – Thumb Buster,” from their upcoming spring release Floating Coffin, immediately lulls you into a state of droned out hypnosis. I don’t want to ruin anyone’s fun, because this is really something that’s bringing me back to Bakesale if Lou Barlow had kept it heavy all the time, but the title keeps reminding me of that episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia where Mac moves in with Charlie and Frank, only to find that Frank cuts his toenails with a knife that he also uses to prepare himself apple slices. Blegh. But something about lighthearted-meets-totally-gnarly is also completely appropriate with Thee Oh Sees’ output, so it all comes full circle. Check out the track below.
Floating Coffin is out 4/16 via Castle Face.

first album of how many for 2013? :)
No complaints. There outputs been stellar lately.
Agreed. I meant that in the best way possible. Still have the last one in rotation.
Floating Coffin looks like it’s going to be awesome. Releasing an album this early bodes well for more material later in the year!
Nice band. Thank you Stereogum as I find alot of cool new bands through you guys. I like the grindy, meaty guitars and cosmic vocals. It reminds me of the Beatles on an acid trip.Very nice. Disturbing cover art though :(
I liked this band before, I’m starting to love them. Great song.
