A week ago, I was frantically writing a Lil Wayne obituary in my head, frantically refreshing TMZ on my phone while attempting to enjoy the amazing and random-as-fuck Usher/Afghan Whigs set at SXSW. But now, after being hospitalized and going into critical condition after suffering multiple seizures, Lil Wayne is not only OK; he’s out of the hospital, cackling through a videotaped thank-you to fans, and promising a forthcoming tour with T.I., which seems, I don’t know, like maybe not the best idea? Maybe get some rest? Whatever, I’m just happy to see him up and talking. Watch the video, which was recorded two days ago and which includes a T.I. cameo, below.
Also below, check out Wayne’s new video for his 2 Chainz collab “Rich As Fuck,” the catchiest and most ferocious new Lil Wayne song I’ve heard in a good long while. In the clip, Wayne and 2 Chainz skateboard through the desert and rap from atop a glowing cube, in a possible over-literal interpretation of the title of the Christian Slater film Gleaming The Cube. A tiger, some capoeira fighters, and a BMX rider who jumps his bike over a bunch of models all make cameos. It’s the second video from Wayne’s new album I Am Not A Human Being II after the Future/Drake collab “Love Me,” and it’s below.

Reader response has long been considered a valid form of literary criticism. Why would a similar approach to music criticism be any less valid?

Just got the leak of the new album, “Beat The Shit” with Gunplay is so great. Have yet to go through the whole thing, though.
