When Cory Stier and Gabriel Rodriguez aren’t playing drums and guitar for Cults on tour, they’re recording together at in New York and San Diego under the name Hideout. The duo’s gleaming metropolitan rock ‘n’ roll is of a piece with the likes Delta Spirit, Local Natives, and Peter Bjorn And John, framing classic sounds in state-of-the-art sonics. “Where You’ve Been,” an early preview from Hideout’s upcoming album Rookie, is a lively dose of harmonious windswept pop-rock.
