We Were Promised Jetpacks The Last Place You'll Look

It’s a good time for fans of moody, sweeping, Scot-accented indie rock. FatCat will release Frightened Rabbits’ second LP in March, and Rabbit friends/tourmates/labelmates We Were Promised Jetpacks will release an EP the same week. The band is selling limited-edition copies of  The Last Place You’ll Look on their current tour, with remaining copies (and download releases) available March 9. The EP has alt versions of two tracks from last year’s These Four Walls “A Far Cry,” is a new one, though its slow buildup and swell at the end is familiar to anyone who picked up the band’s 2009 LP. The crescendo here is one of emotion as well as volume.

The Last Place You’ll Look tracklist:

01 “A Far Cry”
02 “Short Bursts” (alternative version)
03 “The Walls Are Wearing Thin”
04 “With the Benefit of Hindsight”
05 “This is My House, This is My Home” (alternative version)

  1. I’d love these guys even without the rough Scottish brogue and sweet post-punk, landscape-rock goodness. Best band name of 2009, paws down.

  2. This band likes to spend half the song doing “build-ups” while the guy goes from reciting to belting. This would be fine if the “release” part justified it. Then you realize you have to go through the same process on pretty much every single song.

  3. I heard this track live the other night. Fantastic – I haven’t been this hyped on a new band since I first heard The Strokes.
