On their last visit through NYC, Swedish ’80s-playlist-raiders the Mary Onettes played a string of much praised shows and bounced around our streets with photographer Kyle Dean Reinford as their shadow. Fun photo set. They’re set to return this month for an April swing through the States on the back of the new single “The Night Before The Funeral,” following up their second album, 2009′s Islands. This new single catches them in a similarly wistful and swelling cinematic landscape of young love (“it falls apart yeah it falls apart, just like you wanted it to fall apart”), some soaring symphonic elements coloring the lovers’ eulogy. Or as the label puts it: “A bit like a descendant of The Go Betweens and The Stone Roses high on Swedish mountains mixed with a-ha in a gothic church.”
