True to his word, the first listen from Kele Okereke of Bloc Party’s debut solo LP The Boxer is “nothing like [he's] ever done before.” It is also not a Chromeo cover. Spank Rock’s XXXChange produces, Kele spells out the song title, it is an electro club track for dancefloor stalkers and it’s here for your streaming pleasure:
The “Tenderoni” single’s out 6/14, with Kele’s The Boxer LP out 6/21 in the UK via Witchita/Polydor and the next day in the States via Glassnote.

disappointing
Using ‘Wearing my Rolex’ by Wiley as the main hook and sound to this? Hardly bringing something original to the table. Disappointing indeed.
I like it! But then again, this is the type of music I’m in the mood for when summer hits.
Didn’t realize it was a blatant rip off of another song though as Snow Forest said….so to me it sounds new.
:\
yep, pretty disappointing
so said, nevermind
Déjà vu.
Disappointing? What were you expecting? Seems pretty in line with the trajectory Bloc Party was on, minus the other members’ instruments.
not usually my cup of tea musically, but i really like it
I like It…just revs slowly…for my type of brain
it’s okay. to be honest I wasn’t expecting much from him, which is a shame because bloc party are a great band. But i felt he was taken them in the wrong direction.
on the other hand.. what is up with that disgusting deep-fried-chicken-deep-fried burger stereogum’s advertising?
Cool song. I dig it.
Can this guy stop making music already and just focus on his fluid sexuality?
This is a real disappointment for me…
Im a big fan of bloc party (and a big fan of electro too)so i was expecting good things from Kele, but this doesnt really do it for me on any level, I prefered the music bloc party originally set out with ala ‘skeletons’ or ‘banquet’, but i still enjoy the newer music they make, this isnt on par with either.
Im not one to judge music like a fashion trend, but this sounds very dated to me, although i can see the vocals working well for a remix maybe?
