According to New York Daily News gossip columnist Frank DiGiacomo, Jack White berated the audience at the Dead Weather’s invite-only show on August 4. The problem seems to be the “invite-only” part — the audience included Liv Tyler, Shaun White, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Keith’s daughter Alexandra Richards. He reportedly yelled, “Fuck you, you hip motherfuckers! Why don’t you rock the fuck out? Maybe I should go grab those free drinks and shove them down your throats!” (And, reportedly, he received an eye roll from Olsen.) Invite-only shows are never as fun as fan-only shows. So actually, it doesn’t sound like White was out of line at all. Watch some shaky video from his tirade below:

Uh, who was in charge of issuing the invitations in the first place? Mary Kate-Olsen????? What, Ronald McDonald couldn’t make it?! Jack White has the juke joint musical mentality so it’s pretty obvious that he would have trouble adapting to “hipster” crowd and more power to him on that. But, as much as I hate to admit it, commentor Rex Manning Day has a pretty good point at the end of the day.
Ha ha! YES! I think Jack White is great. Industry only shows BLOW. I went to a few at SXSW and everyone was so worried about looking cool that they forgot to rock out! It was lame and I ended up being the only dancing and singing every word to songs. The Dead Weather are badass and it really does make it hard when your audience is just standing there not feeling the music. I was in the photo pit for The Dead Weather at Coachella and literally thought I saw God before me when I saw them play. I almost forgot to take pictures.They feed off energy and I can imagine as an artist who is so passionate, it would be difficult to play in an environment where you know people are just there to look cool. The Dead Weather provide The Best. Live. Show. Ever besides Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. KUDOS Jack!
