Wolf Parade’s Scott Coffey-directed video for EXPO 86 rocker “Yulia” features an astronaut love story that feels like a nod to Sub Pop labelmates of the past, the Postal Service. I feel like Yulia is just a Face Control song Boeckner never recorded so he recorded it with Wolf Parade instead. But thats not a bad thing, Face Control is the best album from any Wolf Parade side project if you ask me.
I agree that this sounds like a Handsome Furs song. I also believe Cloud Shadow On The Mountain is more Sunset Rubdown then traditional Wolf Parade, so the other bands are definitely creeping in. All thumbs up from me though.
Also, this music video was really incredible
i loath the turgid Postal Service so whatever nodding or homaging i’m doing at them is purely unintentional.
