Their “Outlaw Blues” cover is for a new digital-only compilation of tributes to Bob Dylan’s 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home. Chu recently talked to the AP about “Outlaw Blues” and why it’s hard to cover Dylan:
He arranges his songs so perfectly that it’s hard not to just want to do a 100 percent faithful rendition. But at the same time, that’s not what I wanted to do with a cover. I wanted to pick a song where I could change it up a bit.
Of course Chu probably goes through the same feelings every time they do a cover. Also on the album are Castanets, Asobi Seksu, Julie Doiron, Laura Veirs, and Helio Sequence. Listen to the morning benders’s Dylan cover below, and download it for your email address:
