Girls - Broken Dreams Club

Girls are following Album with the 6-song, 30-minute Broken Dreams Club, a collection JR White recorded at the band’s home studio. He did a good job judging from pretty lead track “Heartbreaker.” In a letter about Broken, Christopher Owens writes: “This record is a letter of intent, it’s a snapshot of the horizon. We took the money we’ve made on tour and worked with the kind of equipment and musicians that would have been too expensive for us in the past.” He adds: “This isn’t Girls all grown up, but it’s certainly the next step up…” You should hear the difference.

Broken Dreams Club:

01 “The Oh So Protective One”
02 “Heartbreaker”
03 “Broken Dreams Club”
04 “Alright”
05 “Substance”
06 “Carolina”

Broken Dreams Club is out 11/22 via True Panther. You can pre-order it now. And read that thank you letter from Owens at TP blog.

  1. Does it sound like there is the world’s slowest phaser on this song to anyone else? It’s like the whole thing is slowly swaying back and forth, like an old hippie dancer in slow motion.

And Bing seriously needs to chill with that pervy stuff.

  2. great great song, cant wait for the studio version of Substance and Carolina

  3. the way they’re putting out their album, the singles, and now this new EP reminds me of how Band of Horses always uses the same font, cover art, and same cover artist. Just a little something i noticed, and it makes for an attractive DIY / retro / 70s polaroid aesthetic.

but if heartbreaker is a sign of what of this EP consists of, there’s nothing stopping me from downloading the leak immediately and then getting my vinyl of the EP, which ive all ready pre-ordered.

ive been friends with chris for about a year now, and he’s told me that their new album will be out by March and it will be a DOUBLE ALBUM. yes, you heard it here first, a DOUBLE.

  4. If P4K still gave BNM to tracks, this would be BMFNM.

    Girls rule.

  5. I hear a little bit of Jim James in this…

  6. Wow. This band is going to go down in history.

  7. Love this band, featured the song “Thee Oh So Protective One” on my blog http://www.lowerfrequencies.com/

  8. “Heartbreaker” is a song everyone with a guitar will know within the year.
