Nat Munari directed this video for “Birth Reunion,” a representative track from clamoring, Krautrock-loving Baltimore post-punk trio Thank You’s forthcoming Golden Worry. This is their first full-length with new drummer, Emmanuel Nicolaidis. There’s a smoothness and stiff-lipped maturity in the batch of songs that lends itself to seriously spastic solo dancing (and under-your-breath chanting). Munari obviously picked up on this for the kinetic clip starring the Lexie Mountain Boys-associated dance trio, Bobby Munari offers background:
Bobby is a dance trio created by Katherine St.Paul Hill, Lindsay Pickett, and Za Dawson. The group formed in Baltimore at the beginning of 2010 with a focus on synchronized movement, visual entertainment, and constant fluid energy transfer. Katherine has been a member of the performance group Lexie Mountain Boys since 2005 and can be seen wielding a pastry bag on the television show Ace of Cakes. Lindsay and Za mostly stay at home, studying biochemistry and eating cheese.
Golden Worry is out 1/25 via Thrill Jockey. It was recorded by Chris Coady at DNA in NYC and mixed by Chris Moore in Baltimore. They’ve fleshed out the guitars, drums, and vocals with “‘60s Vox organs, harmonica, mini-moog, jaw harp, sampler” etc. And they have some upcoming shows, including one with recent BTW Regal Degal.
